I am thoughtful, full of energy, all around foodie and passionate about being a strong advocate for others.
In therapy we often talk about life experiences, how it shapes who we are and guides the journey we are on. For me, my life journey led me to social work. My interest in the mental health sector was sparked by personal experiences within my family and of those I met along my educational and professional journey. I have my Bachelors in Social Work from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as Ryerson University) and Masters in School Work with a specialization in mental health & health from University of Toronto.
During my career in both the developmental sector and mental health sector, I gained a passion for working with neurodiverse individuals, families and individuals who looking to feel understood and make sense of their world. Whether you are looking to reduce stress, navigate new diagnosis, understand differences in social preferences, ways of learning, ways of communicating and/or ways of perceiving the environment. I offer a space of understanding, genuineness, curiosity and safety within our therapeutic alliance.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in empathy, acceptance, understanding , genuineness, and curiosity. I believe that as human beings we hold all the answers within us, just like a picture puzzle has all necessary pieces required to form an image. We too need someone to help find the pieces within the pile till it fits. I am a believer of creating a safe space that is supportive in nature. I believe you have the skills, capacity, awareness and knowledge with you when you begin therapy. Working with me you set the pace, goal and hopes for treatment. My hopes are for you to feel valued, supported, and accepted. In doing so, we will build a strong foundation of resilience, while drawing on your inner strengths in order to work through life's stressors
Your experience in therapy is like a working on a puzzle, we move pieces around, uncover some pieces, place them aside till we know where it belongs or we try to turn the pieces around until they fit. The experience may not always be smooth and exciting but when completed, it makes sense. I would be delighted to embark on this journey with you.
