ADHD & Mental Health

ADHD

ADHD impacts many different parts of a clients’ life, beyond the realm of attention and focus.  For children and youth, it is important to work on building their executive functioning.

  • Executive Functions are a broad range of high level information processing functions that are crucial to success in life, especially as an adult.
  • Executive skills refer to the brain-based, cognitive processes that help us to regulate our behavior, make decisions and set and achieve goals.
  • Executive skills develop between birth and age 25 and improve with practice.

Mindset matter too. Often times young people's academic and social experiences can

significantly exacerbate the functional impairment caused by the disorder and affect their self-esteem. ADHD medication can be the first step in helping clients address attention and focus challenges. However, for many client’s medication on its own is not enough. With compassion and insight, Krystle helps patients learn to scaffold ways to cope with their symptoms and the challenges of living with ADHD.
