Anxiety is your body's physiological response to an internal threat. This can be a feeling of unease, fear, or nervousness when thinking about unpleasant things. It is a type of thinking, often ruminating about something in the past or something that might happen in the future, leaving you feeling frightened, nervous, or anxious.
sDepression is characterized by significant low mood states and withdrawal from interest and activities for a long period of time. It is different from regular mood changes and feelings about everyday life. It can shows up all aspects of life, like relationships with family, friends and community.
In my work I utilize a strengths based approach, guided by a trauma informed lens. My work is also influenced by research in neuroscience, understanding how your brain works, particularly brain development, helps create a deeper understanding of the brain and the nervous system. Thus helping us gain a better sense of ourselves and the world around us.
Cognitive behaviour therapy focuses on thinking styles. Supporting people to learn to identify, question and change how their thoughts, attitudes and beliefs relate to the emotional and behavioural reactions that cause them difficulty.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with modifications can effectively treat individuals with ASD/anxiety. Three important components of CBT include psychoeducation, exposure and cognitive restructuring.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy uses acceptance, mindfulness strategies along with behaviour change strategies to increase psychological flexibility.
Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) is a branch of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Individuals are taught how to regulate strong emotions, live in the moment, learn healthy ways to tolerate distress and improve interpersonal relationships
Emotion focused family therapy supports in creating feeling of trust, safety, and strong communication within families. When all family members feel emotionally secure they are able to discuss issues and disclose feelings.
Brief solution focused therapy is a strength-based approach to psychotherapy, on solution-building rather than problem-solving.
